Lots of young people care for a member of their family who have a disability or health problem

If you know someone between 5 and 17 years old who helps look after a family member at home, we would like to hear about their experiences. We are doing this research to learn more about what it is like for young people who care for a family member and see if anything can be done to help them. If you or somebody you know would like to take part in the study, contact us through any of the ways listed on the post-it on the right of the page.

I mind my dad who has schizophrenia and has had it ever since he was a child. I have also learnt a life lesson; even though someone might have a illness or disease, it doesn't mean that they can't live life to the fullest.

I am 11, I care for my sister, she has M.S which is short for Multiple Sclerosis. M.S is something that makes the nerves a lot slower. My sister has it in her legs, so she cannot walk, she has to stay in a wheelchair all day.

When I was just a kid I asked my Mum a question about my sister who has Down Syndrome. "If Sandra has Down Syndrome and can't talk, would that mean if she had 'Up Syndrome' she would be able to talk?"
