Launch of the UNESCO Chair in Children, Youth and Civic Engagement
The UNESCO Chair in Children, Youth and Civic Engagement, hosted at the Child and Family Research Centre (CFRC), was established in October 2008. The Chair was officially launched on March 4 2009 by the President of Ireland Mary McAleese. President McAleese described the Chair as a 'fitting endorsement by peers worldwide of the important work that is being done at NUI Galway to help solve the real problems experienced by young people and families in our communities'. The launch was marked with an inaugural lecture presented by the chiarholder Professor Pat Dolan (see a link for the lecture below).
